Q. What resources are there for the creation of a facilities maintenance manual, including consultants who can do this for us?

  1. While certain that you COULD outsource the initial creation of a “Facility and Equipment Reference Library”, this is likely a function you’ll want to STAFF for on-going maintenance and reliability. As you conduct maintenance and capital improvements, the documentation about your facility needs to keep pace. While we still have a large amount of historical paper records organized by major building systems or equipment IDs, we’re now migrating to electronic documents stored on our network. Most of these are full-text searchable.

  2. Maintenance manuals follow the general information provided through submittals, startup and initial commissioning of building systems. Compiling them is done in section tabs based on O&M and factory maintenance literature plus input from the consultant where information is missing.
