FRIDAY FUNNY: The Day the Office Melted (an Online Facility Management Game)

Believe it or not, there’s a free, platform strategy game sure to be a hit with facility managers (especially those tired of hearing the complaint, “My office is too hot!”). We’ve got it here as today’s Friday Funny on FacilityBlog.

The Day The Office Melted is a clever marketing campaign developed for the UK-based firm, RapidHeatbusters®. Set in comic book style, it centers around the trials and tribulations of the evil villain, Dee Hydration, who seeks revenge on her arch enemy, Mr. Heatbuster (the good guy).

The instructions read as follows:

Dee Hydration will heat up office furniture.
If she melts a piece of furniture, you cannot cool it down.
To cool an object, click once to make the target appear.
Then click it again, but time your next click when the target pulses closest to the center circle and the target is at its coolest.
The mouse controls the Super Hero, Mr. Heatbuster, who can move left and right to foil Dee Hydration and save the office and its contents from her destructive powers.

RapidHeatbusters is one of the UK’s most popular and successful portable air conditioning hire and sale providers. As a division of Rapid Climate Control Ltd, a company with over 25 years specialist experience, RapidHeatbusters offer a comprehensive range of portable air conditioning, air control, heating, and drying products to suit virtually any application. TAMBA developed the viral game to build brand awareness and attract people to the products and services provided by RapidHeatbusters.

Play it! Challenge a friend! Post your scores!

Friday Funny (BONUS): All the Fun of "The Office" now Available 24/7

Last week (June 20), games publisher MumboJumbo announced a new relationship with the Universal Pictures Digital Platforms Group to create a mass market game based on the Emmy Award-winning television series “The Office.” The game will be available for online download and across multiple game platforms, including PC, PSP(R) (PlayStation(R)Portable), and Nintendo DS(TM), starting this fall.

“In the game, players must finish odd jobs around the office as well as join in office pranks. The game will also feature audio and video clips from the show,” according to a report in Variety.

Personally, I think most facility managers think their own offices are annoying enough already–but perhaps with the infusion of “virtual” hijinks, “The Office” as video game will lighten things up. For more random opinions on this matter, or to share your own, check out this link.
