Veolia Environmental Services (Veolia) has reached an agreement with TCP, Inc. to promote recycling of mercury containing lamps. CFLs are seven times more energy efficient than incandescent lamps.
Parties desiring to recycle CFLs can order appropriate containers online. The price paid includes everything needed to recycle mercury bearing lamps. The user simply assembles the container, fills it, and ships it using the prepaid shipping label. One price is all a user pays. The disposed of fluorescent lamps will then be delivered to Veolia for recycling. Veolia will even send environmental compliance documentation to the generator.
“We’re proud to add TCP to a growing list of manufacturers working directly with Veolia that support recycling mercury containing lamps, sustainability and environmental responsibility,” noted Rob Wlezien, vice president, sales and marketing at Veolia ES Technical Solutions, L.L.C.
“We are very excited to partner with Veolia,” said Ellis Yan, President and CEO, TCP, Inc. “This recycling program allows consumers and businesses to feel confident that they have made the best possible lighting choice while helping the environment.”

Process makes recycling easier than ever for customers.
Veolia Environmental Services is pleased to announce that its RECYCLEPAK® containers for compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) can now be shipped via the United States Postal Service (USPS). This new development will make it easier than ever for consumers to recycle CFLs!
Growing concerns over the detrimental effects of mercury in the environment have made recycling mercury-bearing CFLs a hot topic. CFLs are seven times more energy efficient than incandescent lamps. However, because they contain small amounts of mercury, it is essential that they be properly recycled.
The RECYCLEPAK® Consumer CFL Recycling Kit, as featured in leading publications such as Consumer Reports®, makes recycling CFLs easy. The program is completely pre-paid and includes the recycling container, protective poly liner and easy to follow instructions for return shipping and recycling. When ready for recycling, consumers can now give the package to any letter carrier or bring it to any of the 37,000+ USPS postal facilities for shipping.
“We’ve worked very closely with the USPS to design a program that’s safe and easy to use for residential customers,” noted Rob Wlezien, Vice President Sales and Marketing at Veolia ES Technical Solutions, L.L.C. (Veolia). “Our RECYCLEPAK® program can now be used by more than 300 million people in 146 million homes, businesses and PO Boxes in every state, city and town in the US,” continued Wlezien.
“By working with the USPS, Veolia supports their efforts to deliver more than just mail. Their programs help foster community spirit, while educating and supporting worthwhile causes such as recycling,” stated Barry Jordan, National Sales Manager at Veolia. “The USPS has long been an environmental leader through a variety of policies, programs and initiatives, including recycling mercury containing lamps,” continued Jordan.
