Growing The Green Economy
Last night, I stumbled across an interesting TV program on my local PBS station (NJN) called “Growing The Green Economy.” The show touched on some of the issues that have been covered regularly in TFM, including the concept of creating economically sustainable and successful businesses and facilities.
The description from the Web site describes the program in the following way:
How consumer demand for ecologically sound products and energy has impacted the marketplace and job opportunities. Included: green technologies, including biofuels, wind power, solar energy and water-saving methods.
Of particular interest was a statistic claiming that the U.S. recycling industry now employs more workers than the automobile industry! (Not sure if I heard that one correctly, but if it’s true, it surprised the heck out of me.)
Hosted by Simran Sethi, the program is based on a book of the same name by Hazel Henderson (with assistance from Sethi and a forward by Hunter Lovins). Check your local PBS programming for rebroadcast schedules of this show.
