Lees Carpets Makes Prime Time Debut On HGTV
Lees Carpets is making its move from commercial floors to your living room … television, that is. Selected as the carpeting for two episodes of HGTV’s (Home and Garden Television) new hit show “Deserving Design,” products from Lees’ Menswear and Sequences carpet tile collections will debut separately on the program’s September 12th premier and December 5th episode.
A new weekly home makeover series, “Deserving Design” is hosted by interior designer and architecture guru Vern Yip, who is perhaps most recognized for his role on TLC’s (The Learning Channel) “Trading Spaces.” In each “Deserving Design” episode, Yip radically redesigns two rooms within one worthy family or individual’s home, largely inspired by the homeowners’ personal stories.
“Having our products selected by Yip is truly a testament to Lees Carpets’ renowned reputation for products that embrace cutting-edge style, superior performance and innovative sustainability,” said Kurt Topp, senior vice president of sales, Lees Carpets, a division of The Mohawk Group. “We are thrilled to have Lees on the floors of two deserving families’ homes.”
Yip selected the two carpet tile patterns – “Shirt” from Lees’ Menswear Collection and “Ground Strata” from its Sequences Collection – not only for their fashion-forward aesthetics, but also for their sustainable attributes. Designed in collaboration with HOK Chicago, “Shirt’s” classic, cut/loop stripes provide striking texture and timeless elegance to any installation. “Ground Strata” designed by HOK Washington, D.C., is reminiscent of the gently curved lines and edges of a layered stonewall.
Both products utilize Lees’ Duracolor® patented stain-resistant dye technology, which is integrated into carpet fiber – rather than applied topically – to provide permanent stain, soil and fade resistance while affording total color and style flexibility. “Shirt” and “Ground Strata” both feature Lees’ Encycle™, a revolutionary PVC-free and 100 percent thermoplastic backing system. Ensuring adherence to the highest environmental standards, the products are CRI Green Label Plus certified and are produced in an ISO 14001-certified manufacturing facility in Glasgow, Va.
“Shirt” will appear in the September 12th episode and “Ground Strata” will debut on December 5, 2007.
