After the past few weeks, I think we could all use a good laugh (too bad it’s at our own expense).

Mumbai (Bombay) India has experienced exceptionally severe rains in recent days. On Tuesday, July 26, a record 26 inches of rain flooded the city and its infrastructure. Unable to cope with the volume, streets turned to rivers and buildings became unstable. Several reports on this tragedy are available from the BBC’s news site.

Today’s New York Times (registration required) had a good article on our desire to building higher and higher–even to dizzying heights.

Chicago is jumping on the skyscraper bandwagon again as well. NPR has the latest on this new structure, which will be situated on the lakefront near Chicago’s Navy Pier (new home of The TFM Show® in 2006).
