Focus On: HVAC

Today’s Facility Manager serves as a comprehensive resource for facility professionals who regularly purchase product and services for their facilities. In this web exclusive HVAC product focus, the editors present several offerings on the market. These are in addition to the products you will find featured in each issue of the magazine.

Titus Laminar Flow Diffuser (TLFR) by Titusfor critical environments and designed to comply with ASHRAE 170
The next generation Titus Laminar Flow Diffuser is for critical environments and is designed to comply with industry standard, ASHRAE 170, offering safeguards for surgical patients. It creates a vertical piston of air used to discharge clean air over a patient during operations. TLFR includes snap-in and auto-centering filter retainers to reduce the time and effort required for installation and the removal of filters. The TLFR diffusers are available in aluminum and stainless steel construction and help deliver lower energy consumption. The Titus HVAC chilled beam line is suited for non-critical environments, such as waiting and examination rooms that require adequate ventilation to provide a comfortable environment, while also reducing the probability that infection will spread between occupants. Offering a lower operating cost, Titus HVAC active linear chilled beams meet ASHRAE Standard 170 for indoor air quality and patient comfort.

CLW Chiller by WaterFurnace International, Inc. large capacity chiller
The CLW Chiller is a large capacity chiller with the ability to continuously monitor and optimize system performance using a combination of hardware and software options. Available in 60 ton to 140 ton capacities, it uses advanced adaptive direct digital controls that modulate equipment based on ever-changing conditions to maintain the highest efficiencies possible, while remote monitoring can relay this information to facility managers anywhere. The advanced adaptive unit controls allow models with optional energy monitoring and electronic expansion valves to continuously self-optimize. In addition, the commercial chiller is engineered to precisely distribute heated or chilled water for fan coils, pools, commercial aquariums, radiant floor heating, snow/ice melt, industrial process water, and other applications. Every CLW chiller includes a high-efficiency R-410A scroll compressor; 4″ or 6″ water connections (Victaulic or flange style) that can be connected on either the right or left side of the unit; balanced port bidirectional TXV or an optional electronically controlled expansion valve for precise refrigerant metering; two Schrader service ports per circuit; heavy gauge steel cabinets painted with corrosion resistant black polyester powder; a frame with forklift access in two dimensions and lifting points for maneuvering during installation and servicing; separate high and low voltage panels; and copper brazed, oversized stainless steel water-to-refrigerant heat exchangers. The CLW Chiller is offered as either a water-cooled chiller or as a reversible option, and units can be combined to create larger central chiller plants.

WeatherExpert 70-Ton to 150-Ton Models high efficiency commercial rooftop lineby Carrier®
The WeatherExpert Series commercial packaged rooftop units now includes six models from 75 tons to 150 tons. The line boasts Integrated Energy Efficiency Ratio (IEER) ratings up to 21 that exceed the Consortium of Energy Efficiency (CEE) tier II criteria and meet or exceed all current ASHRAE 90.1-2010 and Energy Star® energy requirements. The units take advantage of common parts from existing Carrier rooftop designs and customers are able to configure the equipment to their exact application, with access to product support both during and after installation. WeatherExpert 75 Ton to 150 Ton models feature a double wall foam panel cabinet design with hinged man-sizedaccess panels; a ComfortLink DDC (direct digital control) communicating control system; and hermetic staging scroll compressors on refrigerant circuits controlled via Electronic Expansion Valves (EXV). Customers can select between the standard airfoil supply fan or the optional high static airfoil supply fan. Units are also available in dedicated vertical, horizontal, and mixed supply/return airflow configurations for constant volume (CV), staged air volume (SAV), or variable air volume (VAV) applications. WeatherExpert 75 Ton to150 Ton models come in gas/electric, electric/electric, and cooling only applications that are offered with a range of pre-engineered and certified factory options, such as the Humidi-MiZer® adaptive dehumidification system, service valves, and disconnect switches. All WeatherExpert units feature Puron® refrigerant (R-410A), provide easy access for routine maintenance, are supported by Carrier’s eDesign Suite, and integrate with Carrier’s i-Vu® system controls.

Bell & Gossett® Submersible High Temperature Sump Pump designed to handle applications where liquids are too hot for conventionally built submersible pumpsby Xylem Inc.
The Bell & Gossett Submersible High Temperature Sump Pump is designed to handle applications where liquids are too hot for conventionally built submersible pumps. This includes wastewater coming from high temperature processes like boiler blow down and hot water rinses in the commercial plumbing market. With the capacity to handle liquids up to 200ºF (up to 70 GPM) and solids handling capabilities up to ¾”, the versatile sump pump is built to pump corrosive, non-corrosive, and clear or solid laden liquids. It features silicon carbide mechanical seal faces; a non-clog cast iron, semi-open impeller with pump-out vanes for mechanical seal protection; a cast iron volute casing and 2″ NPT discharge; a corrosion resistant, stainless steel shaft with a threaded design; a locknut to guard against component damage on accidental reverse rotation; and 300 Series stainless steel fasteners. The Bell & Gossett Submersible High Temperature Sump Pump is also capable of running dry without damage to components. Fully submerged in high-grade turbine oil for lubrication and efficient heat transfer, the single-phase motor features class B insulation and has built-in overload with automatic reset, offering SJOOW severe duty oil and water resistant power cords rated for high temperatures.
