Is there any new approach to infrastructure that hasn’t already been tried? A trampoline! At Russia’s Archstoyanie festival, that was the answer delivered by the Estonian architectural studio, Salto

According to Designboom, the 51 meter long trampoline in Nikola-Lenivets, Russia was developed to “create intelligent, interactive spaces that emotionally correspond to its local context, giving the user a different experience of their environment by movement.”

Salto’s “Fast Track” (the name of the trampoline project) is a integral part of the Russian park’s infrastructure—it is a road and an installation at the same time. It challenges the concept of infrastructure that only focuses on technical and functional aspects and tends to be disconnected from immediate surroundings. Instead, “Fast Track” attempts to create intelligent infrastructure that gives users a different experience of moving through their environment which would normally be mundane and predictable.

Made of black rubber, the project has been a hit since it opened at the end of November 2012. Fast Track was designed by Maarja Kask, Karli Luik, Ralf Lõoke of Salto, which is located in Tallinn, Estonia.
