Siemens has introduced a new line of pressure independent control valves (PICVs) that integrate three functions into a single device — control valve, adjustable flow limiter, and automatic pressure regulator.

This PICV line, comprised of eight different valves, is engineered to offer accuracy and flexibility to simplify planning, installation, and commissioning — especially for large hydronic HVAC systems. Control accuracy enhances room comfort, and the valves increase energy efficiency significantly by preventing oversupply or undersupply of heating or cooling energy.

This portfolio of PICVs from Siemens covers a flow range from 0.3 gpm to 37 gpm with a differential pressure operating range from 2.3 psi to 58 psi. The combination of control valve and differential pressure regulator in one valve facilitates installation and simplifies commissioning. An integrated differential pressure regulator keeps the pressure across the internal control valve constant, while also maintaining consistent volumetric flow, regardless of pressure fluctuations in the hydronic system. This ensures a higher level of comfort under all operating conditions and keeps return temperatures optimized. Thus HVAC equipment, such as pumps, can work easier — generating maintenance and repair cost savings while reducing heating and cooling costs.

Regardless of pressure fluctuations, Siemens PICVs are designed for long lasting performance and feature:

  • ANSI Class 250 valve body
  • ANSI Class IV leakage @ 45 psi (1/2″ to 1-1/4″)
  • ANSI Class III leakage @ 50 psi (1-1/2″ to 2″)
  • Linear flow characteristic
  • Linear flow characteristic
  • Optional P/T ports for measuring differential pressure across the valve
  • Pair with modular Siemens non-spring return and spring-return electronic actuators
