NEW PRODUCT FLASH: Hydrogen Peroxide Cleaners by Clorox

A new line of non-bleach disinfecting cleaners from Clorox Professional Products Company uses a patented activated hydrogen peroxide formula that is able to eliminate a variety of bacteria and viruses on surfaces in as quickly as 30 seconds to one minute.

The Clorox Commercial Solutions® Clorox® Hydrogen Peroxide Disinfecting Cleaners are available in a spray and as wipes and are registered by the U.S. EPA to kill health threats that include MRSA, influenza, and rhinovirus. These new disinfecting products offer the fastest non-bleach contact times on the market (versus leading competition based on Federal EPA Master Label comparison, as of Nov. 2011).

The activated hydrogen peroxide formula breaks down quickly into water and oxygen after use, are non-corrosive, and leave no active residue behind. The new disinfectant line uses plant based biodegradable cleaning agents and has no harsh chemical fumes, no added fragrance, and no VOCs (volatile organic compounds).

In the past, hydrogen peroxide has been used for a wide variety of purposes from anti-viral to skin infections. The technology in the Clorox Hydrogen Peroxide Disinfecting Cleaners differs greatly from the hydrogen peroxide products available to consumers. Says Matthew Harrington, scientist with The Clorox Company, “The new activated hydrogen peroxide technology has reinvented the use of hydrogen peroxide in a breakthrough way for the cleaning industry. With a proprietary combination of stabilizers and surfactants along with hydrogen peroxide, the cleaning industry now has a new portfolio of products to offer fast efficacy to kill some of the toughest bacteria and viruses, creating a healthier environment.”

The Clorox Hydrogen Peroxide Disinfecting Spray and Wipes line is ideal for use in K-12 schools, colleges and universities, athletic facilities, health clubs, and other highly traffic areas. The product is recommended for use on hard, non-porous surfaces such as stainless steel, vinyl, painted metals, glass, baked enamel, chrome, glazed tile, glazed ceramic, glazed porcelain, porcelain enamel, laminated surfaces, plastic, and sealed fiberglass. The products are not recommended for use on aluminum, brass, copper, porous plastic, rubber, or unfinished wood.
