Do you know any environmentally responsible facility managers deploying reusable toilet wipes in their restrooms? This is not a misprint! There is a company called Wallypop (Des Moines, IA) offering cloth toilet wipes as an environmentally sensitive alternative to conventional toilet paper.
Features and benefits include:
- More comfortable and soft “on the most delicate body parts”.
- More economical to launder than purchasing toilet paper.
- “Basic” and “Premium” options with either flannel or velour layer.
- Hemp option includes two layer of “hemp terry”.
- Sherpa option includes two layers of soft cotton fleece.
- Two layer construction for “soft strength”
- Can be used wet without the “sopping disintegration” associated with toilet paper.

Ummm…if you say so.
In fact, though I suppose something could be “too” green, I wouldn’t call cloth wipes “too green.” They’re really not all that green, once you consider the energy and water used in washing them. They are NOT promoted on my website as a “greener” alternative, in fact.
And, truly, why would anybody use these in a commercial setting?? Within a family, where everyone shares the same germs anyway, fine. In an office? no, thanks!!
On the other hand, many businesses are starting to offer cotton towels and a hamper as an alternative to paper towels, which I personally think is great. Cotton towels do a much better job of drying hands. A local retirement home has theirs washed with the linens by their service.
You have to wash them??? Who gets that job?
Who has washers and dryers at their offices? This sounds like the old fashioned diapers – perhaps you can have a service come and pick them up?
