ENERGY STAR Recognizes Technical Consumer Products

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Energy (DOE) named Technical Consumer Products, Inc. (TCP) the 2009 ENERGY STAR(R) Partner of the Year for Lighting Product Manufacturer. The company was chosen for its contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by manufacturing and helping to educate consumers about those products. TCP, based outside of Cleveland, OH, will be recognized for these accomplishments at an awards ceremony in Washington, DC on March 31, 2009.

“The Department of Energy is proud to recognize TCP, as they represent notable progress or sustained excellence in working to secure our energy future. In 2009, our partners receiving these awards demonstrated superb commitment to advancing the adoption of energy efficient products and addressing our environmental challenges,” stated Richard H. Karney, DOE ENERGY STAR program manager.

TCP, Inc. has been an ENERGY STAR partner since 1999 and will be honored for its leadership in manufacturing CFL’s, Residential Light Fixtures and LED’s that earn the ENERGY STAR, the government backed symbol of energy efficiency. In 2008, TCP introduced more than 140 new ENERGY STAR qualified CFL’s and 25 new ENERGY STAR qualified LED decorative Light Strings.

The 2009 Partner of the Year Awards are given to manufacturers and retailers that successfully promote and deliver ENERGY STAR qualified products, saving consumers money and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Award winners are selected from more than 12,000 organizations that participate in the voluntary ENERGY STAR program.

“EPA is pleased to recognize TCP for leadership in addressing global warming through greater energy efficiency,” said Kathleen Hogan, director of the climate protection partnerships division at the U.S. EPA. “By promoting their products that have earned the ENERGY STAR, TCP is showing customers that we can boost our nation’s energy efficiency and reduce our emissions of greenhouse gases, while producing quality products.”
