IFMA Announces Global Job Task Analysis Project

IFMA‘s education department has announced an important step in the process of thoroughly defining and advancing the facility management profession globally. This month IFMA will initiate the global job task analysis, helping to identify a universal body of knowledge that forms the foundation of the facility management profession.

Guided by the IFMA international credentials committee, the purpose of the analysis is to identify facility management activities and responsibilities that are shared worldwide. By setting a single global standard for recognizing competent facility managers, the analysis will validate the competencies to be measured by the Certified Facility ManagerĀ® Exam.

Active participation by practicing facility management subject matter experts and the support of our chapters and councils will be critical to the project’s success. The job task analysis will be conducted in phases, and volunteers will be asked to indicate their desired level of participation based on a checklist of specific activities.

In the next few weeks all IFMA members will receive an e-mail outlining the project’s purpose and soliciting volunteers. We hope that you will be a part of this historical event. We also ask that you encourage your members and colleagues to contribute their time and insight for the benefit of the entire profession. Facility management is evolving on an international level, and it is IFMA’s responsibility to identify and meet the growing needs of facility professionals worldwide.
