Friday Funny: You can’t make this stuff up!

This string of genuine e-mails came to me from TFM‘s FM Frequency Columnist. It’s a perfect example of the kind of nonsense facility professionals deal with daily. Moral of the story? Think twice before you play that practical joke on a co-worker.

We found your business cards taped in the restrooms at the XXX XXXXXX XXXX building. I am the property manager for this building and wanted to notify you that we do not allow soliciting in the XXX XXXXXX XXXX office park. The cards have been removed. Please do not distribute any additional material in our buildings. Thanks,

Property Manager

I appreciate your email. However now: Think about it for a moment with some semblance of common sense.
Who in their right mind would solicit business by taping business cards in the restrooms?

I did not place my cards there. Someone told me late today they saw them taped to the second floor men’s room ceiling.
Again with some semblance of common sense wouldn’t someone tape them to the mirror perhaps or better yet the break room?

As it turns out one of my co-workers who is in a state of constant state of being a prankster did this as a joke.
I did not see the humor in it but just blew it off as anyone who saw it would realize it was some weird prank or joke, apparently not.
I am unable to police every one else’s actions nor willing or able to accept any consequence with what they may do with my business cards.

I work for XXXXXX and can be found on the second floor should you feel the need to contact me.
I do not need to solicit business within your facility…

We thought it was a strange way to market yourself. Someone in our office found them on the back of the stalls. I guess we have not found the ones on the ceiling yet. Thanks for the explanation. We have seen stranger things than this but I don’t want to give your friends any ideas. I hate to see what you are in for on April Fool’s Day!
